Weekend Writing Warriors
Hi everyone. If you’re in the path of violent storms ripping across the country, hunker down with a good read and hang on! Switching to a different genre and wip today, I’m sharing a snippet from a paranormal work titled, Cat Nip.
I leaned over my patient, more concerned with her than the baby crying loudly in his father’s arms. John Patrick hovered in the background watching with suspicion as I tended his wife. It had seemed an easy birth—and was because of my presence. Only I knew that the tear in the soft lining of Myrtle’s womb would have been the end of her; and the poor babe would have died before he’d lived.
“Your hands are that hot,” she said and looked at me with amazement when I touched her belly. Her gaze was steady, knowing, when she murmured, “It was good I asked you to come.”
“Yes,” I agreed. Sighing, she drifted into sleep as I kneaded the tender muscles letting heat and magic seal the rupture before her life blood could gush away.
