And here we are again. Impossible but true, summer 2013 is a thing of the past and it’s time to winterize the pool and get the rakes out. @_@
For my snippet this weekend, I’m sharing another scene from my coming soon title, Outrageous Pride, releasing September 26, 2013.
“He’s polite and incredibly gentle for being so…” Tali paused, glad that she was alone as she searched for the correct word to describe Mr. Lonigan. When it came to her, she swallowed nervously before saying it aloud.
“Virile.” He gave the appearance of being temperate and calm, at the same time his visage was battered and he exuded male dominance.
Objectively she numbered his scars—one on his forehead, evidence of a deep gash once cutting through the eyebrow itself; a second on his left cheek, small, more akin to a dent; right ear torn; jagged mark on his jaw; an obviously recent split lip; and a faint scar above his mouth that traced a white line to his nostril.
His nose… She sighed, wondering how many times its broad expanse had been broken.

Have a fantastic week!!
So glad this is coming out this month, Gem! With all these teasers I’m sitting on pins waiting. 🙂
Excellent! I love the laundry list of scars! Oh my, have to add to my TBR 🙂 Good 8!
I love a man who looks lived-in! 😀 Very nice excerpt!
Love a fighter! A man who has done some living.
Nice contradiction in this character’s description.
Nice snippet- I like how you focused on the scars and not really in a bad way.
My Blog
So he’s kind of battered but virile…sounds interesting LOL. Excellent excerpt!
LOL! “Virile” is perfect timing in this snippet. Made me laugh, but it also drew me in.
“polite and gentle” — but covered with scars. What a contradiction! Great!
Personally, I’ve always been fond of scars. I’ve always felt they’re proof that someone isn’t afraid to take on a challenge and live a little. Great snippet!
I’m intrigued to say the least. I need to know more about this guy. Yum!
I like Sarah W’s description–he’s definitely a guy who looks lived in! Of course when you describe a guy that way, you know we’re going to ask for more 😉
Wow that’s quite a man! Hope he has a soft side!
her description of his face and scars fits the virile claim. can’t wait to read this story
Wonderful description. I love that he’s battered yet “incredibly gentle”. Very nicely done.
Love the description. Looking forward to this one:)
Great description…and I’d say she’s definitely smitten 🙂
He sounds like a prize fighter. Great description. Am not sure about the virile part, unless you like scarred men.
Great use of 8 sentences to let us ‘see’ both chars. Well done!
I would love to know how he got each and every one of those scars.
Interesting man here…loving the description of all the scars. Seems like she might like the position of nurse here…
Excellent description!
I certainly want to know how he came to look this way . . . to many knife fights? Great snippet!
