Whew. What a ride! Time to take advantage of this momentary lull. If I haven’t read your snippet from last week, my apologies. The holiday caught me. I’ll try to catch up this week.
Several readers inquired about Cur and Sara’s marital situation. So I thought I’d continue the scene from the last two snippets with a third that gives you a glimpse of the relationship.
As Sara hurried to the house the hair on the back of her neck bristled and every instinct screamed run. When she reached the back porch she gave up all pretense of ignoring the man stalking behind her, and hiked her skirts, taking the steps two at a time.
Cur followed her through the doorway and swung her around to pluck her eyeglasses from her nose; holding them aloft, he peered through the lenses.
Sara grabbed his arm to retrieve her spectacles and he shoved her glasses into his shirt pocket so he could give her his full attention. His hands were rough, and she felt the calluses on his palms when he ran them over her body, assessing her form before he cupped her chin, tilting her head so she had to meet his gaze.
“I have work waiting and don’t have time for foolishness,” she muttered.
He ignored her words and continued holding her hostage, pressing closer till she was against the door, his body melded to hers.
She was mesmerized by his thumb tracing a lazy path from her jaw to her bottom lip until he growled, “Explain why the spectacles you wear are nothing but transparent glass.”

Your writing is extraordinary, Gem. I’ve said it before and this eight displays your talent, the passion of your words and the way you paint a scene is awesome.
Did not expect that! Though it makes sense that she’d want to hide herself in any way she could. . .
This story keeps getting better and better, Gem! 🙂
Ohhh, I want to know the answer to that question! Great tension and intriguing development.
Oh-ho-ho. I have a friend who wears glasses, but only one lens is corrective because his other eye has 20/20 sight. But both? Great snippet, Gem. 🙂
Love it! Can’t wait to hear her reply. Sounds like Cur has her number, in more ways than one. Intriguing, sexy snippet.
I’m still not one hundred percent sure that I like Cur, but I love this snippet!

I’d like to know the answer to that myself. Good cliffhanger.
Very well-choreographed action sequence. It could have been confusing but you made it easy to follow at first pass.
