Greetings, Earthlings. I hope everyone’s shopping, baking, decorating, and writing are moving along smoothly. I’m sharing another snippet from Cur today. Also giving you a sneak peak at my cover although there are font and word placement issues to correct.
“Pick up your gear and move along, Riley; I don’t have time for your belly-aching,” Cur Villalobos murmured, aiming his words at the paddock he was studying, not bothering to turn around. In spite of the mild tone, his words carried back to the ranch hands and the rest of the crew loitered to see the outcome.
Sara hurried toward the kitchen, reluctant to get caught in a brawl between Cur and the man he’d just fired.
“I’ll have my pay now, you bastard,” Riley snarled as he stood spraddle-legged and challenging.
“End of month, same as everyone else,” Cur told him. When the man cursed and then headed for the barn, the boss added quietly, “Take your saddle and your leathers because it’s a long walk to the Jakes’ place. I hope your canteen’s full; they’ll be no fill up from my well.”
Rage darkened the cowboy’s features as his hand hovered over his gun and Sara wanted to call out a warning.
“You pull leather, Riley, and it’ll be the last thing you ever do,” Cur promised, still without turning.

Whoa. This snippet is intense. That line about the well—how badass can a character get?
You know, I love the cover, Gem, but I’m not sure about the tagline; I think Cur is a devil I definitely want to know! 😀
Wow. Intense. Loved this snippet! Can not wait to read what happens next!
Cur doesn’t sound like a nice guy at all, but his harsh attitude is so wonderfully believable. It’s great you have a character like him in this story.
Powerful snippet that blew me away! Gem, you’ve done it again. Dialogue so believable it’s frightening. Thumbs up on the cover. He can plant his boots under my cot anytime.
You can really feel the intensity between the two characters, great job.
Cur seems very impressive and not scared to make enemies. I would love to see more about him.
