Hi everyone. Brrrr… hope you are all inside somewhere warm and toasty. I’m sharing another snippet today from my next (coming soon) Unlikely Gentlemen title, Cerise Amour.
Tall as her husband, Cerise turned in his arms and studied his face without tilting her head. Instead of the pasty skin and weakened wreck she’d set out with on this bizarre journey, she gazed at a healthy man in his prime.
“I think you’re forgetting that someone back home planned your death.”
“Not someone—Jack,” he growled.
“I don’t believe it. I did not give birth to a murderer.” None too gently, she clasped Jeb’s face between her hands and glared at him.
“I’m alive so he’s not a murderer,” he muttered as his expression became dour, his features settling into the harsh planes she’d seen so often in the past.

You did a good job showing the emotion here.
I wonder who she will chose if she has to be in between them next time they meet each other.
You captured this read with the first line. Solid eight!
Fascinating setup here, raises all kinds of questions that I find I MUST have the answers to. Excellent excerpt!
That will hook a reader for sure. Great snippet!
That was tense and definitely intriguing.
Hmm, lots of interesting questions raised by this snippet! I especially like how the last line hints at a personality that might make someone–even if it’s not Jack–want him gone.
So who’s right, him or her? Is Jack the bad guy? You’ve got me wondering!
Wow, all kinds of complex relationship things going on in eight sentences. Nicely done.
That’s one heck of a conflict. I think Jack’s in trouble.
