Hi everyone. I’m sharing a few more lines from Cur, my current wip. This scene is a bit ahead of last week’s snippet.
Cur© 2014 Gem Sivad LLC. All rights reserved.“Can you drive a team?” Cur asked his bride, trying to get some kind of a response other than the usual tight nod.
When she pushed the ugly spectacles higher on her nose, he noticed freckles he’d not been close enough to see the day before.
“I have a dog.”
Hell, he knew she had a dog; the animal had raced beside him the whole way up the rutted lane, announcing his presence long before he’d arrived. Looking around the place, Cur wondered how the poor thing had survived.
“You’ll have to earn your keep,” he warned, speaking to the russet colored bitch crouched hopefully by the wagon; the beauty wiggled in the dirt, expressing her delight at his notice.
“Come on then,” he said and hid his smile.
After he lifted her into the wagon bed and stepped back, she promptly made a nest behind the bench, satisfied that she was moving too.

sounds like the dog is friendlier than the bride 🙂
Too cute. I love animal lovers. 🙂
Well, so far he’s scoring lots of points with me!
Nice that he is taking care of the dog. Now I wonder why he knows so little about his bride.
Yeh not as hard hearted as he seemed 🙂
Love that he is going to take care of the dog, I’m a sucker for animal lovers. Great snippet this week.
The dog has a crush on Cur! That’s adorable, Gem! 😀
You’ve captured me with this snippet. Add a pet and the scene changes to a warm glow. Beautiful writing, Gem.
Okay, I decided I like him. He didn’t leave the dog behind. I look forward to reading this book, Gem. 🙂
If the dog likes him, he must not be all bad. Now if only he can win over his bride as easily (as if!) Nice snippet.
Think the dog is going to help her warm up to him. Great snippet!
That he’s already made friends with her dog is a good sign!:)
Good thing he’s nice to the dog. Says a lot about him. Great snippet, Gem. 🙂
So far, so good. A nice point in his favor that he’s accepting the dog. Excellent excerpt!
maybe he’s a nice guy a heart if he likes the dog.
I’m glad he’s allowing the dog to come;). Great 8.
What a tease! When is the book going to be available? As always looking forward to anything you write. Thank you.
What a lovely scene with the dog … says a lot about him. Well done.
Aw, sweet scene, I’m wondering about the bride too, what’s going on there?
