Hi everyone. I hope you’re enjoying the lazy days of summer. I know I am. đ
I’m continuing my witch/shifter story today, posting the first eight lines from Installment # 12, which will  be available on Tuesday. Cat Nip will release at all major distros in August.
In hopes of generating a little pre-publication interest, I’m putting a Good Reads link at the bottom of each post. Many thanks in advance to those of you who find time to visit and click the “Want To Read” Cat Nip button.
Whoom, whoom, whoom...
âWhatâs that noise?â Maggie asked as the sound grew louder, cutting through the silence of the night.
Fur rippled beneath Hunter’s skin and the tips of his fingers sprouted claws.
âHide.â At his gruff order the little witch began to murmur and sketch patterns in the air. “Quiet,” he added, remembering her invisible buggy with the squeaking wheels.
Heâd been wondering how to explain to her that sheâd not hexed him into being a cat. Problem solved; shedding his clothes, he leapt from the buggy and hit the dirt in jaguar form.

I have read all of the installments and can’t wait for the whole story! A great read
He’s a jaguar and not a cat, and it’s not her doing?
Who’s fooling whom?
Nice 8!
Oh crap, what kind of danger are they in? And what is that noise?
I marked it as want to read : )
Thank you ma’am. In this age of “visibility” every little nudge helps.
Problem solved? Oh, right: he’s still a guy. đ
I’m really loving their particular brand of relationship confusion, Gem!
I want a “like” button for Sarah’s response! LOL! And I want to know what her response is to his transformation. (And what that sound is.)
(And now I have an ear worm, thank you! “Hush, children, what’s that sound?”)
Finally beat Goodreads into submission and put it on my want to read list.)
Thanks! đ
Very interesting image that the fur was rippling under his skin. Like he’s sprouting it. Chilling. I do like their relationship a lot. He’s so gruff. I want to see a soft side to him (I may have missed it in other snippets). But I’ll find out when it releases. Heading to Goodreads. đ
Eep! What’s “whooming”? Great snippet, Gem, and congrats on the upcoming release. đ
Totally Want To Read. I’ll also “Like” Sarah’s comment. Great snippet.
Yup that would do it! Wondering what that noise is but I’m sure they’ll be safe…won’t they? đ
What’s coming? How is she going to handle seeing him turn into a jaguar? Yikes. I must know more. Thanks for the goodreads link!
Sure the fur isn’t rippling though his skin? I might actually find time to read this one.
I’m intrigued. I do love big cat shifter tales.
Interesting snippet. I like Hunter’s transition and his name, too. Well done.

I’d fallen behind a chapter or two over the holiday. Just caught up. Lovin’ this story!!:D
Fascinating concept. And what happens next we all cry?
I want to know what that noise was. and what is the danger. Great cliffhanger.
What’s not to dig about this? It’s easy to see, as usual. And that last paragraph is perfect.
I so much enjoy this story, even in 8 sentence bites, so I can’t wait to read it. Another excellent excerpt. (Off to Goodreads to find and click the button). Great 8!
Nicely done. Questions raised and answers anticipated.
Great scene! Loads of tension. Nicely done, Gem. I marked it as to read, and just subscribed to your ezine. I do want to read this book. The premise is so unique. đ
Hum she could still have hexed him into being a cat… permanently when in danger. How did he came to the conclusion that shape-shifting in front of her was going to be sufficient?
