Happy Easter Sunday, everyone! I’m continuing today with my Unlikely Gentlemen 2.5 title, Cerise Amour.
As Jeb’s health improved, the girl produced trousers and a shirt for him to wear. Whoever it was who owned the men’s clothes, he’d been gone a while and for whatever reason, Cerise was on her own. He was aware of her growing agitation and often listened to her pace the cabin at night when she thought him asleep.
The first day he made it out of bed she was gone, so he navigated his way outside on his own. He managed to stay on his feet long enough to scout around the place but not get back inside before her return.
“What do you think you’re doing?” she screeched as she swooped down on him. “You’re not healed yet.”
“Dammit girl, I needed to use the privy, and that’s not something you’re going to watch from here on out.”

The snippet certainly raises questions and presents multiple possibilities for difficulties between the two of them–and interesting backstory for her regarding the clothes. He seems a gentleman – nicely done. Interesting snippet.
Healing man in the care of a nice girl… hmmm, I smell romance in the air! 🙂 nice snippet!
Love the snippet!!!
Enjoying the story and this excerpt moved us forward, which I liked. Can’t wait for more because there are a LOT of questions yet to be answered!
I enjoyed the way this snippet hinted at the girl’s past, certainly makes me want to read on.
Ah, the desperation to be independent. Great snippet, Gem. Looking forward to reading this one. 🙂
you pack a lot of info into a few sentences here 🙂
I like his independent spirit. I can just see the sparks flying between these two. 🙂 Great snippet!
Hmmm. Her panic over his early rising could be from any number of things. I’m definitely curious to learn more about her. I love his reply, though, and look forward to how he continues to handle himself around her. An independent man and woman can often lead to interesting scenes 😀
I’m wondering what makes her nervous and why she seems to be trying to hide him, or what she hides from him.
I’m thinking that there is more behind her reaction than just worry that he’s re-injuring himself.
Yup, a gentleman doesn’t like the girl to watch when he’s busy in the privy : ). Sorry i missed commenting last weekend. But I am here today : )
