He everyone. Ready for a little more witchery and adventure? Here’s the first eight lines from the next installment of Cat Nip. Forgive the creative punctuation. 🙂

“Does evil bleed?” Hunter growled.

“If you mean do I fear a person— sort of a person, I added mentally— than the answer is, yes.”

“What sort of a person threatens you?” he mocked my words as if he’d read my mind.

Shivering in spite of the warm night and the man next to me radiating heat, I whispered,“A warlock skilled in black arts.”

“I protect you now and I am strong, and fierce, and deadly,” he announced, flashing white teeth that suddenly looked too big for his mouth.

“And I am a failed witch, can barely set a spell, or call magic to me; and yet, I knocked you on your furry tail the other night. Trust me—he who comes for me is more powerful than seven times seven witches. You are not strong, or fierce, or deadly enough.”

Hi everyone. I hope you’re enjoying the lazy days of summer. I know I am. 🙂

I’m continuing my witch/shifter story today, posting the first eight lines from Installment # 12, which will  be available on Tuesday. Cat Nip will release at all major distros in August.

In hopes of generating a little pre-publication interest, I’m putting a Good Reads link at the bottom of each post. Many thanks in advance to those of you who find time to visit and click the “Want To Read” Cat Nip button.

Horse and Carriage

Whoom, whoom, whoom...

“What’s that noise?” Maggie asked as the sound grew louder, cutting through the silence of the night.

Fur rippled beneath Hunter’s skin and the tips of his fingers sprouted claws.

“Hide.” At his gruff order the little witch began to murmur and sketch patterns in the air. “Quiet,” he added, remembering her invisible buggy with the squeaking wheels.

He’d been wondering how to explain to her that she’d not hexed him into being a cat. Problem solved; shedding his clothes, he leapt from the buggy and hit the dirt in jaguar form.
