Going on sale for the 4th of July, I’ve put together a McCallister Bounty Hunters boxed set containing Wolf’s Tender, Five Card Stud, and Trouble in Disguise. Since it’s been awhile since I’ve posted from Wolf’s Tender, I decided to share a snippet from Charlie Wolf McCallister and Naomi Parker’s story.
“My name is Miss Naomi Parker.”
Charlie didn’t know why the woman offered him her hand, but he took it, using it to pull her into a bear hug.
She was a tall, narrow-flanked female past the first flush of womanhood and except for the cornflower blue eyes staring at him with astonishment not fear, Miss Parker was definitely old-maid material. He wasn’t quite certain how to get rid of the lady with whom he now found himself standing thigh to thigh. Not being a prize himself, nor considered civilized, he rarely came in contact with women of society. Remembering how she’d witnessed his antics in the saloon, he didn’t waste time pretending to be anything but a red-skinned savage.Plain speaking seemed the best course.
“In a moment, whether you get out of here or not, I’m planning on being in that tub of water naked as the day I was born.” He released her abruptly, expecting her to hurry from the barn.
Instead she leaned close again and whispered, “I need your help.”

Miss Naomi Parker, deportment instructor at the Sparrow Creek Young Ladies Academy, can’t forgive herself for hiding during an outlaw attack. When the local sheriff refuses to pursue the gang of renegades who kidnapped her students, she decides to rescue the girls herself. But, she needs the help of the best tracker in the territory—half-Kiowa bounty hunter, Charlie Wolf McCallister.
Before he goes out on another bounty hunt, Charlie wants a long soak in a hot bath, a bottle of whiskey, and the pleasure of a woman’s company. He has two out of three when a school marm with cornflower-blue eyes invades his privacy.
After he explains that he only works for pay, Miss Parker offers Charlie one night of sexual favors in exchange for his tracking services. Though he knows bedding a white woman will cause all kinds of trouble, he operates on the philosophy that a bird in hand is better than no bird at all.
After they’ve sealed their bargain, Charlie tries to leave Naomi safely behind. But the opinionated teacher insists on accompanying him. She’s impatient with his decisions, questions his authority, and generally ignores his warnings. But each time they make love, Naomi captures another piece of Charlie Wolf’s heart.
When one straight-laced spinster tenders her body to one cynical sometimes savage, the unexpected bounty is love.

Weekend Writing Warriors
Hi everyone. It’s beach time and hubs and I are preparing for our annual vacation in the sand and sun. I won’t be posting next Sunday but I’ll be back in time to set off fireworks on the 4th of July and resume sharing excerpts. Until then, after I read the snippets from this week, I’m turning off social media and focusing on two things, having fun and finishing the wip I’ve been working on. Happy summer days, everyone!

This week I’m sharing a last snippet from Trouble in Disguise, Eclipse Heat Book 6.
Desperately Miri snarled in Beauregard’s meanest tone, “McCallister, I don’t know what yer up to, but I’m guessing it ain’t to my benefit.”
“Sure it is, kid. You think too small, Beauregard. I’m going to help you find the plates, catch a gang of counterfeiters, and collect the bounty on all of them. In return for my help, you’re going to introduce me to the young woman I met at the Pleasure Dome.”
When Miri choked so hard on her biscuit she spilled her coffee, Deacon crossed the space between them and thumped her back until she wheezed and quit coughing. Then he filled his cup from her pot, handed her a plate bearing a piece of the rabbit he’d cooked, and retreated to his side of the camp.
Well don’t that beat all. I can’t very well say hello, Deacon, nice seeing you again. By the way, I’m the female you had your way with at the Pleasure Dome.

Since both his partners have married and retired from the hunt, Deacon McCallister is alone when he visits the Pleasure Dome, an infamous brothel in Fort Worth’s Hell’s Half Acre. He’s tracking a counterfeiter but what he finds is TROUBLE—dressed in a man’s ruffled shirt and nothing more.
Bounty hunter Miracle Beauregard calls herself Beau and for years has fooled the general public about her gender. But underneath Miri’s disguise, beats a feminine heart in lust for Deacon McCallister. Though she spends a lot of time dreaming about her rival, she never expects to act upon her longings.
When Miri follows an outlaw to the fanciest whorehouse in Texas and crosses paths with her heart’s desire, she trades her buckskins for bare skin to play the part of Deacon’s paid companion. But, she’s wrong when she thinks her time with Deacon will be just once. After she leaves her bounty hunter rival behind, she discovers he’s so enthralled by his one night lover, he’s on the hunt to find her again—and he’s got forever on his mind.
