Hi everyone. I had a busy week catching up on everything I let slide last week during my bout with the flu/cold. My apologies for being so tardy in reading snippets. I didn’t finish my visits until Wednesday and still missed a few. I will try to do better this time.

I’m sharing from an older title of mine this week b/c it’s included in a Cowboy Collection coming out February 3rd. I’m not hawking our wares but I really do mean it when I say this is a heck of a deal–18 authors offering the first book in a western themed series all for 99¢. Most of the books are contemporary, River’s Edge, my contribution, is a late 19th century Texas romance.

(From) Rivers’s Edge

River studied the sun-kissed figure, admiring the flex of his shoulder muscles as he stood thigh deep in the river, scooping water to wet his face and chest. After lathering first one armpit then the other, he bent again, cupping water to rinse the dark tufts of hair sprouting there.

Momentarily distracted by his fine form, River stopped sketching and stared at the taut muscles in his buttocks, noting the jagged scar ruining the contour of the left cheek. And then he turned around.

A line of water caught the sun, glistening as it streamed from his chest, down his flat stomach, collecting in beaded drops on the hair surrounding his manhood. As though her scrutiny had caused the action, he fisted his hand around his shaft, pumping the flesh until it became engorged.

A blush started in River’s toes, rising in a flood of heat scalding her insides. She stifled a nervous gasp, forcing her gaze away from the intimate act and back to the harsh planes of his face.

Almost casually, he rinsed, walked out of the water to his pile of clothes, picked up his gun, and pointed it at the approximate place where she crouched in the tree.

“Come down from there now or I start shooting.”

River Prescott has everything she’s ever wanted – except perhaps a man. The unconventional ranch owning artist is very certain she doesn’t want a husband. But sometimes she can’t help wishing for a lover; especially after her new neighbor trespasses and she gets a full-frontal view of his assets.

Edge Grayson moves onto the rundown spread he’s inherited, expecting to stay aloof from nearby town business. But between local artist, River Prescott’s determination to seduce him and protecting her from a killer on the prowl, the ex-gunslinger is finding respectability a lot more dangerous than his former life of sin.
